Signage
We have a number of signs available to let people know about a “Wildlife interaction” which might be happening. These signs are held by several residents located at strategic points around The Cape, and are designed to alert people about:
- Injured Wildlife: in the first instance, please ring Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300 to report the injured animal. Then contact one of the “sign keepers”.
- Wildlife crossing: this sign alerts drivers or cyclists about animal activity close to roads or paths.
- Swooping birds: in spring some birds get very territorial and can swoop what they perceive to be invaders in their territory. And this can be quite scary if you are not expecting it.
- Koala – slow down: Sometimes during October to December, koalas will venture into the built up environment looking for a mate. This can cause in injury or distress to the animal if we start crowding it for a look, or simply don’t see it as we drive along.
