Sustainable homes

Visitors to The Cape will notice homes that are architecturally different to most new developments and gardens which have been designed to be sympathetic to the surrounding natural coastal landscapes. Quite a few of these homes have been featured in sustainability and architectural articles and the people who are fortunate enough to be living in one of these homes will tell you what a joy they are to live in. If you have an interest in architecture, sustainability or simply living better, then you may find lots to interest you here.

There is a lot to know in the sustainability industry, and you can discover more about the design and building considerations that go into an energy efficient home.

The design guidelines for homes at The Cape

The Cape has been designed to maximise liveability and minimise costs for residents, while protecting the value of homes over time. To help maintain a consistent approach and approval process for new homes, Design Guidelines have been developed and must be referred to when designing, building or modifying a home at The Cape. Site layout, design features and local services have all been thoughtfully packaged to work seamlessly together for the residents’ benefit and to assist them to have a light environmental footprint and low living costs.

These guidelines reflect the input and expertise of some of Australia’s most experienced sustainable architects and designers. They give home buyers and their builders useful information for developing houses that are well-sited, properly orientated, designed and built, with year round comfort. Following these housing guidelines will deliver maximum comfort, minimum running costs and a high quality, attractive and sustainable home that is sympathetic to the site, neighbours, surrounding parklands and the coast. There is also a very handy Design Checklist which can be used in conjunction with the Design Guidelines.
