Wildlife Interaction Signs
We have a number of signs available to let people know when ‘wildlife interactions’ are happening. These signs are held by several residents located at strategic points around The Cape and are designed to alert people to:
- Injured Wildlife: this sign alerts people to keep clear of an injured or sick animal so it is not stressed even further.
- Wildlife crossing: this sign alerts drivers or cyclists about animal activity close to roads or paths.
- Swooping birds: this sign alerts people that birds, who can get very territorial in Spring, are swooping people who they see as invaders in their territory. Swooping can be quite scary if you are not expecting it.
- Koala – slow down: this sign alerts people about koalas who have ventured into the built-up environment looking for a mate (often during October to December). Crowding in for a look at these animals can cause them injury or distress. They are also in danger from cars and cyclists who may not see them as they drive along.
